How about feelings?

Whenever I talk to people outside the school system about my students on the spectrum, I get questions like: Can they have feelings like us? Of course, they do! They cannot always put a name on it , control it or understand how and why other people feel...

Lorsque je me promène sur Twitter, je réalise à quel point les parents des enfants avec un TSA ont des difficultés à obtenir des services adéquats. Beaucoup d'entre eux parlent de problèmes d'intégration scolaire. Ils ne peuvent pas toujours se permettent...

You cannot do everything by yourself in a classroom to assist a student with ASD. You have to work with his strengths to improve his weaknesses, they are your allies. If he is non-verbal, but has a good visual memory: insert pictos in a routine. Lacks...

J'ai fait un plan d'intervention.....et après??

Day 0

I have found memories of my students on the spectrum. They taught me so much. First, my own limitations. Also that they are all different just like you and me. There is no perfect recipe for integration but your own degree of preparation and acceptance....

I have been teaching French immersion in an elementary school forever and have been integrating students with ASD at least for the past 18 years ( before, I just did not know they were on the spectrum Lol) I went to the Miriam Centre for my TEACCH training...
